Composite Fillings

Reconstructive Dentistry

One of the simplest forms of direct reconstruction, fillings are used to fill cavities in the teeth and restore the correct biting surface. One option is a resin composite filling, made of ceramic and plastic compounds that mimic the appearance of natural teeth. Composite fillings are especially suited to front teeth where aesthetics are important. While composite fillings have come a long way in durability and strength, the material needs specific conditions in order to be effectively applied and cured, and it may not be the best option for all teeth. Additionally, composite fillings are more expensive and somewhat less durable than traditional amalgam fillings.
